headed west

This afternoon we are headed west for Minden's second trip "home". She even helped me pack last night. I think we might have over done it, but you just never know!

Wish us luck on the car ride. Wouldn't you know that this week would be the week she decides to hate her car seat again?

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

spring break!

For the past two years we have planned a hotel stay/get together with my family during March. It's exactly what we need after those long, cold winter months. This year the hotel we stayed at had a water park.

Back in January I began searching for a swimsuit for Minden. I finally found one in stock and ordered it in a 6 month size. Well as it turns out, our 5 month old is a very healthy little lady and she definitely filled it out (adorable!). Getting it on her may have been a two person job, but it was definitely worth the trouble.

The older kids had a great time at the pool, but Minden was really indifferent about it all. There were a lot of people, and the water was cooler than she is used too so she sort of just took it all in.No fussing. Just observing.

That night we enjoyed each other's company; playing games and hanging out. It was a great weekend together. Hopefully we will get to do it again next year.

goodnight moon

Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby?

I didn't think so.

two teeth

This pretty little doll face now has two teeth! They both came in last weekend, conveniently following her cold. Not only was the poor girl sick, but her gums were tender as well.

I see them the most when she is upset (hence the picture below), but we are enjoying her toothy/gummy smile.

5 months of Minden

Minden,

Where did the last month go? Time keeps on moving way too fast and at every stage I find myself saying this is my favorite. Truth be told, you are just simply my favorite.

Long gone are the days of newborn snuggles. You wiggle, squirm and even pinch me while you nurse. You still give me a nice snuggle in the mornings and before bedtime, but you do prefer to keep moving.

You continue to gain weight like a champ. People often comment on your adorable chubby cheeks. Your legs and arms are filled with soft pudgy rolls that I love to kiss.

Your hair is starting to come in. It is light and fine and resembles fuzz on the top of your head. Adorable.

You still are not rolling over. I am convinced that this is purely out of choice. You can get yourself all the way on your side, grab what you want and then put yourself back on your back. You spin in circles and scoot to get what you need. You will put up with tummy time for a little longer than before, but not for long at all.

This month we bundled you up in your snowsuit and set you out in a pile of snow. You just looked around for a few minutes and then we came back inside. I cannot wait to see your reaction to snow in the years to come.

This month you also had your first cold. I have never felt more helpless in my life. You were so congested and had this cough that just broke my heart. Your dad adjusted you daily, we stood in the bathroom multiple times with a hot shower running, had the humidifier running next to you constantly, as well as a diffuser with essential oils and just walked around the house trying to get you to sleep for a few days. You refused to nurse, and that broke my heart. I was so happy when I finally got you to take a bottle. You are on the mend now. It's so great to have your smiles and cooing back in the house.

Lately you are taking some nice long naps at daycare, and then staying up from about 3 pm to 7 pm. You were sleeping through the night before your cold. Since then you have been waking up to nurse twice a night. However, last night you did make it until 5 am.

Keep growing little girl. Your personality is amazing, and you are truly so much fun to have around.

Love,
Momma
